چکیده

Adsorption of CO on a Pd monolayer (ML) supported on Mo(ll0) has been studied using low energy electron diffraction (LEED), temperature programmed desorption (TPD), and high resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). Three ordered CO substructures denoted as (~ Jl) (-21 ~), and (~ ~l) are observed with LEED. The binding energy of CO on the 1.0 ML Pd/Mo(ll0) surface is reduced by 12 kcal/mol relative to the Pd(lll) surface, consistent with previous results for supported palladium monolayers on other substrates. Two vibrational states of CO are observed near 1950 and 2050 cm -1, with the feature at the lower wavenumber having the smaller binding energy.

Adsorption and Reaction of Formic Acid on a Pseudomorphic Palladium Monolayer on Mo(110)

The adsorption and reaction of formic acid, HCOOH, on monolayer and multilayer palladium supported on a Mo(110) surface have been studied using temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). On multilayer palladium, formic acid adsorbs molecularly at 100 K and desorbs primarily intact upon heating to 200 K. A small amount of the adsorbed ...

Adsorption of Ammonia and Its Influence on Coadsorbed Carbon Monoxide on Monolayer and Multilayer Palladium Epitaxially Grown on Mo(110)

The adsorption of ammonia on a monolayer of Pd on Mo(110), Pd1ML/Mo(110), and multilayer Pd(111)/Mo(110) surfaces has been studied using low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), and high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS). A diffuse (2 × 2) LEED pattern has been observed for ammonia on the Pd1ML/Mo(110) surface. TPD measurements indicat...

Adsorption of Au and Pd Atoms on Thin SiO2 Films: the Role of Atomic Structure

The low-temperature deposition of Au and Pd atoms on thin SiO2 films grown on Mo(112) has been studied by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy, and CO adsorption. On the monolayer films, gold forms three-dimensional nanoparticles at temperatures as low as 10 K and does not affect the phonon spectra of the silica films. On the other hand, palladium exh...

Silica-Supported Palladium Particles with Infrared Reflection-Absorption Spectroscopy

The coadsorption of nitric oxide and carbon monoxide on Pd( loo), Pd( 11 l ) , and a model silica-supported palladium catalyst has been investigated with infrared reflection-absorption spectroscopy (IRAS) in the temperature range 100-500 K. The palladium surfaces were in equilibrium with a 1 X l P Torr equimolar mixture of CO and NO during the FT-IRAS studies. The structure and coverage of the ...

Interaction of CO and deuterium with bimetallic, monolayer Pt-island/film covered Ru(0001) surfaces.

The adsorption properties of structurally well defined bimetallic Pt/Ru(0001) surfaces, consisting of a Ru(0001) substrate partly or fully covered by monolayer Pt islands or a monolayer Pt film, were studied by temperature programmed desorption (TPD) using CO and deuterium as probe molecules. Additionally, the adsorption of CO was investigated by infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (IRA...
